Tanzania FA Boss: We Deserved Victory Over Nigeria

By Nurudeen Obalola:

The President of the Tanzania Football Federation, Jamal Malinzi, believes the Super Eagles were lucky to escape with a draw on Saturday.
The Taifa Stars created several good chances but were thwarted by excellent goalkeeping from debuting Carl Ikeme in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Dar Es Salaam.
“Honestly, Tanzania deserved a better result,” Malinzi told completesportsnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
“We created more chances and had better possession.”
The draw left Tanzania with just one point from two matches following their 3-0 defeat to Egypt earlier in the qualifying campaign.
However, Malinzi has not given up on qualifying, urging the Super Eagles to halt Egypt’s march to Gabon 2017.
“Please go on and beat Egypt in March 2016!” the Tanzania federation boss added, while pinning his hopes on next year’s fixtures.
“Difficult to say if we will qualify now. Decider will be back-to-back games in March 2016.”
Nigeria will play Egypt twice in March, with Tanzania and Chad also facing off back-to-back.

  1. The SEs should better buccle up, or else, Egypt will white wash them if they play them the way they played against Tanzania Look at Chad whom the SE struggle to beat in Naija 2-0 were disgraced at home by 5-1. We should better put our acts together before Match 2016. If not, let the U23 team with so much coension of good football display represent us at that level as well.
One thing in Nigeria is that we rely so much on old big names. Look at the goal keeper of Cameroon. He is playing Barca youth team at 18. If it were Nigeria, nobody will give him such a chance.
The game of football in Africa is very fast now, but our play is so slow that fast canter attack of good ball distribution is almost non existence. We cannot make 5 good passes without mistake.
I espect players like Saviuor, Ihenacho and the rest skilful young and fast midfielders to break into that SE’s midfield.
