Team Nigeria on Monday zoomed into the quarter-finals of the women’s handball event
despite losing their last group C match on Monday afternoon to group leaders, Angola, 37-24, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Nigerian girls came second in the three-team group with three points, leaving Kenya without a point to occupy the bottom spot and taking an exit from the competition.
The thrilling clash was decided at the handball court of the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kintele Stadium.
Nigeria’s will confront Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals.
Head Coach of the Nigerian women handball team, Patrick Asuzu said his team was looking forward to a semi-final berth despite losing to Angola.
“We’ve put the defeat by Angola behind us, we just have to move on and never allow it to drag us back, Asuzu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Our target is to win the gold medal but first we have to give the quarter-final match against Ivory Coast our best shot.
“They are a good side to have topped their group, so we must work hard. We must correct all the mistakes we made in the game against Angola before the quarter-final game.”Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
