Congo Democratic Republic club TP Mazembe claimed their fifth CAF Champions League title on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over USM Alger of Algeria.
Having won the first leg 2-1 in Algiers, Mazembe won on an impressive 4-1 on aggregate.
Mbwana Samatta opened the scoring with a penalty in the 75th minute, while Roger Assale bagged the second in added time for Mazembe at their Mazembe Stadium fortress in Lubumbashi.
TP Mazembe’s previous African triumphs were in 1967, 1968, 2009 and 2010.
The DR Congo giants will receive $1.5 million for their and will represent Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan from 10 December to 20 December.
USM Alger got $1 million.
