Egypt’s U-23 coach, Hossam El-Badry, has blamed referee Antoine Essouma of Cameroon for his side's 2-2 draw against Nigeria in Wednesday's group B clash of the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations.
The U-23 Eagles raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half through Oghenekaro Etebo who converted two penalty kicks.
But in the second half, the Egyptians scored two quick goals to earn a point in the game.
Speaking to BeIn Sports, El-Badry said: “The scenario we faced in this game was a very weird one because of the poor decisions from the referee. We want fair judgement. We were always in praise of the African referees and then these things happen and they take us back to step one again,” he lamented.
The ex-Ahly manager said their focus now will be how to get the three points against Mali.
“We went through a healing process after the game and we are now concentrating on our final group game against Mali which is very critical to our position in the group.”Unblock the FIFA World Cup with ExpressVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
