Senegal U-23 coach, Serigne Saliou Dia, is disappointed with his side's Africa U-23 Nations Cup defeat at the hands of Nigeria, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The hosts failed to book a place in final of the competition following their 1-0 loss to their fellow West Africans.
They will now look to win their third place play-off to secure a place at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Despite failing to beat Nigeria, Serigne praised his players for their performance in the game.
"I'm disappointed that we lost against Nigeria today, which could have cemented our place in the final and the Olympics," he told reporters after the game.
"We are still close to obtaining our objective, which is to qualify for Rio.
"I have to congratulate the boys. They played well, but we were not lucky at all.
"We created so many chances, but we were not efficient in converting them.
"The third place match would be a second chance for us to qualify for the Olympics because this is our objective."
