U-23 Eagles midfielder, Usman Mohammed, believes the side can make a big impact at the Rio 2016 Olympics after conquering the continent at the Africa U-23 Nations Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The Eagles will head to Rio as African Champions after beating Algeria 2-1 in the final on Saturday.
Nigeria made history by becoming the first country from the continent to win the gold medal in the football event of the Olympics at the Atlanta ’96 edition of the games.
And the FC Taraba player is confident they can emulate the achievement of the Nwankwo Kanu-led side next year.
“We are happy with what we have achieved in this competition, but the next thing now is to do well at the Olympics,”he disclosed to Completesportsnigeria.com.
“It will be a great thing to match the achievement of the Dream Team that made the nation proud in 1996.”
The Eagles won silver medal in their last appearance at the Olympics in Beijing 2008 when they were led by current coach Samson Siasia, but failed to qualify for the last edition in London.
