Nigeria’s U-23 team Captain, Ehun Obanor has said he joined Abia Warriors of Umuahia to win trophies and raise his personal profile, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Obanor completed a move to the Glo Premier League side which prides itself as Ochendo Babes from Bendel Insurance of Benin at the beginning of this season.
The 2014 CHAN Eagles defender said that 'bigger' clubs like Enyimba and Kano Pillars made moves to lure him after watching him play in the All-Africa Games qualifiers for the U-23 team but he turned their offers down on personal reasons.
“Football is not just about playing the ball but a place where you will have rest of mind.
"Abia Warriors is a place where you play football and you have rest of mind and that is why I decided to be here,” the left-footed defender said.
Obanor disclosed that former Abia Warriors striker Peter Onyekachi and midfielder Michael Ibe Okoro both of who feature for the U-23 team, influenced his coming to the club.
He described the duo as some of the finest players in Nigeria, adding that Abia Warriors have the potential to win trophies this season if they remain focused since they have a good coach and a well established management.
The former Insurance of Benin wing-back pointed out that the players are determined to do well and win domestic trophies, as well as pick a continental ticket.
The former Bendel Insurance of Benin defender also expressed confidence that the Dream Team, which he captains will do well at both the All-Africa and the Olympic Games, considering the array of stars in the team and the technical prowess of coach Samson Siasia.Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
