UCL : Echiejile’s Monaco Qualify For Play-offs

–Onuachu, Hassan, Akintola crash with Midtjylland

Elderson Echiejile’s AS Monaco, have progressed into the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League after thrashing Young Boys of Switzerland 4-0 in the Third Qualifying Round on Tuesday.

The Nigeria international defender, did not feature in both legs of the qualifier against Young Boys.

Goals from Ivan Cavaleiro, Lavyin Kurzawa, Anthony Martial and Stephan El Shaarawee, gave Monaco the comfortable win.

Monaco won the first leg 3-1 to go through 7-1 on aggregate.

In Cyprus, Midtjylland beat Apoel Nicosia 1-0, with Paul Onuachu coming in for Kristian Bach Bak in the 81st minute.

But the result was not enough as Midtjylland crashed out on the away goals rules. They lost the first leg at home 2-1.

Nigerian duo of Rilwan Hassan and David Akintola, were not selected by Midtjylland for the match.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday’s fixtures, the likes of Efe Ambrose, Nosa Igiebor, Abduljeleel Ajagun, Ahmed Musa and Kehinde Fatai, are expected to be in action.
