Van Gaal: United’ll Be Title Contenders With Win Against Chelsea

Louis Van Gaal has said that a win for Manchester United against Chelsea will see them seriously challenging for the English Premier League title.

Both teams face each other on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

In their first meeting at Old Trafford, Chelsea held United to a 0-0 draw.

And looking ahead to the big clash, Van Gaal said the race for the title is still wide open.

"I feel that if we beat Chelsea – and that is not simple – our league (challenge) shall start again. That's important."

"The competition is still not finished. It is not finished for Manchester United and not for other teams."

Van Gaal pointed out that they will be approaching the Chelsea game on the back of their recent wins.

"Our recent wins were big, so that shall give a boost to the players. You can see that in training."

On the injury front, Van Gaal revealed that Phil Jones is closer to a return after training on Friday, but Bastian Scweinsteiger is still out.

He also added that Marcos Rojo is doing, well but can't train yet, while Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia are also progressing.
