Van Gaal Worried About Blunt Attack, Norwich Coach Eyes United Upset

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is eager to lead his side back to winning ways after their shock loss to Bournemouth.

“The only answer is to win this game. It’s still difficult because we are playing in the Premier League, but at home you have to win, and that’s for sure. Norwich have had good results against top teams. What I always say, and that’s not any excuse, is that winning in the Premier League is not so easy,” he told a press conference on Friday.

“Goals are the most important thing, we have to always look for solutions to make goals. We are doing that but we have to look for the solutions in our selection, that’s important.

“Maybe we have solutions elsewhere but that’s more difficult, because in January clubs shall not let go of players who score.”

He also revealed that skipper Wayne Rooney stands a chance of making a return after missing the last three outings with an ankle injury sustained in the 1-1 draw at Leicester City.

He also added that the duo of Chris Smalling and Ander Herrera have trained for a full week ahead of tomorrow’s game against Norwich.

“It is possible that he shall play [against Norwich] but we have to wait and see.”

“Young is progressing. We have to wait and see” – but Lingard and Darmian remain unavailable through injury.

Meanwhile, Norwich coach Alex Neil believes his side stand a big chance of beating Manchester United at Old Trafford if they replicate their second half performance against Everton last weekend.

But he was quick to admit that his side are in for a tough game when they travel to Old Trafford to Louis van Gaal’s side who slumped to a 2-1 defeat at AFC Bournemouth last week.

Neil whose side have managed only three wins in the Premier League this season also remains unfazed by the Canaries’ poor streak against the Van Gaal’s side who will be itching to return to winning ways after their defeat against AFC Bournemouth.

“It’s going to be a tough game at United, they haven’t lost a league game at home,” Neil said at his press conference ahead of the game.

“We’ve not got as many points as we’d like, but you can climb a few positions in the table by putting a run together.

“If we can put in the performance that we did in the second half vs Everton, then there’s no reason why we can’t get something.

“Performance-wise, we’ve been competitive in the majority of games. If we can keep that up, then the results will come.”

Neil also confirmed that Andre Wisdom and Matt Jarvis will both miss out on this weekend’s game due to injury.

Wisdom is yet to fully recover from an hamstring injury while Jarvis misses out due to a knee injury.
