Glo Premier League side, Warri Wolves, have refuted claims that they have declared some players missing, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
There have been reports in some quarters that the Seasiders trio of Gbolahan Salami, Ogenekaro Etebo and Azubuike Egwueke have been declared absent without official leave by the club.
But the Chairman of the club, Moses Etu, strongly denied such reports and offered a simple explanation.
“Nobody has been declared missing,” Etu said. “Gbolahan Salami is on loan at Warri Wolves and we are still working on how to renew is loan move. Oghenekaro Etebo and Azubuike Egwueke are still members of the team as they have contracts with the club till the end of the 2016 league season.
“We have invested so much on the players and we can’t afford to treat them anyhow. So they have to remain faithful to the contract they signed as they can’t be cleared by any club without our consent.”
Etebo is on the verge of moving to a second division club in Portugal while Egwueke was reported to have signed for a club in Finland.
However the Seasiders affirmed that midfielder Joseph Osadieye remains a member of the team despite featuring for the 2015 league champions Enyimba at the Super 4 tournament in Uyo.
“Osadiaye still has a contract with us and he hasn’t been cleared to join Enyimba,” Etu added.
Warri Wolves and Enyimba will campaign in the CAF Champions League while Akwa United and Nasarawa will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
