Warri Wolves reclaimed second position in the Glo Premier League after a hat-trick by Joseph Osadiaye helped them secure a 3-0 win against Akwa United on Thursday at the Warri City Stadium.
The match which was earlier scheduled to take place on Wednesday was postponed due to heavy downpour which made the pitch unplayable.
The Seasiders went into the game knowing that nothing but a win would be good for their title ambitions after Enyimba snatched a point on the road on Wednesday against Nasarawa United in Lafia and Wikki Tourists defeated IfeanyiUbah 2-1 in Bauchi.
The win took Wolves from fourth to second on 59 points, just three points behind leaders Enyimba with four matches left to end the season.
Osadiaye put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute off a corner kick by Ikechukwu Ibenegu.
The visitors who are fighting to escape the drop took the game to the Seasiders after conceding the goal but failed to make headway.
The Promise Keepers conceded the second goal in the 67th minute with Osadiaye nodding the ball home from close range.
The winger scored his third of the day a minute later when he curled the ball into the net from outside the box to make it 3-0 for his side.
