Arsene Wenger has expressed confidence that Arsenal will qualify for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, although he confirmed that key midfielder Francis Coquelin will be out for three months.
The Gunners gave their chance of progressing into the next round a big boost following their 3-0 win against Dinamo Zagreb.
Mezut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez (brace) were the scorers for Arsenal.
In his post-match press conference, Wenger stated that it was imperative they bounced back from the weekend’s loss to West Brom with a win against Dinamo.
“I believe the speed of our passing gave Zagreb a problem. It was important to not concede first,” Wenger said.
“It was important for us to respond straight away as confidence can drop quickly.
“This time we go to Olympiakos looking to qualify. It will be tough but I believe we can do it. We have to win. Let’s forget that for now and focus on Norwich on Sunday.”
Wenger went on to praise the impact of Sanchez in the game.
“He (Sanchez) is just a very important player. We have real strikers in Olivier Giroud and Alexis.”
However, concerning Coquelin, Wenger said: “It is what we feared, basically.
“Let’s be realistic and count 12 weeks.”
