Youngster Alex Iwobi had a promising game for the Gunners in their 3-1 FA Cup third round win against Sunderlandon Saturday and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger showered praises on Iwobi for his performance at the Emirates Stadium.
The 19-year-old Nigerian was handed a rare opportunity to start for the first team as Wenger rested a number of key men for the cup clash.
Iwobi did not disappoint as he made his team not feel the absence of the mercurial Mesut Ozil who was rested for the visit of Sam Allardyce's men.
The nephew of former Nigeria and Bolton captain Austin Jay-Jay Okocha was substituted in the second half by goal scorer Aaron Ramsey to rousing applause from the fans.
Wenger praised the Super Eagles forward after the game, particularly for his accurate passing in the centre of midfield.
“Alex Iwobi was one of the guys who was very good in the first half but tired a little bit in the second,” Wenger told the media after the match.
“Overall he did well. I liked the timing of his passes and in the middle of the park that’s a vital quality.
“He plays forward, sees the pitch and isn’t afraid to take people on. For a young boy that’s not easy.”4years ago My wife left me,because i was too WEAK in bed,but today she calls me Bed Champion. Now i finally discovered a Natural Solution that forces women to ask for more.
