Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom could feature in the first team this coming season.
Akpom spent last season on loan to Hull City and helped them gain promotion back to the English Premier League.
The 20-year-old has been in good scoring form in Arsenal’s pre-season friendly games, scoring against the MLS All-Stars, Chivas Guadalajara and Viking.
Speaking on arsenal.com, ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Manchester City, Wenger also hinted that the trio of Gedion Zelalem, Chris Willock and Jeff Reine-Adelaide are in the running for places in the first team.
“They (Zelalem, Willock, Reine-Adelaide, Akpom) are four very exciting youngsters and two are certainly close to making the breakthrough,” Wenger said.
