Mourinho: ‘I’m happy with the spirit and the quality of our game – we are going in the right direction again.’

Wenger: ‘Essien was a straight red in my opinion. He did not play the ball, he played the player.’
Mourinho: ‘I think he (Essien) deserves to be looked at as a great player and be careful of other teams’ reactions in relation to him. That for me is the negative point.’
Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal, EPL, December 10, 2006
Mourinho: ‘I accept the draw but it was a bit of a surprise that a team 15 points behind the leader came here not to win, to go for the draw, it’s almost saying we don’t want to win the Premiership.’
Wenger: ‘We tried to win the game and nearly did that. I knew the final part of the game would be difficult for us physically, but when you get so close to winning of course you want to keep it going.’
Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal, League Cup final, February 25, 2007
