Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has told Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme he has no plans to sell him, but he must be ready to fight for his place in the team reports completesportsnigeria.com.
The Nigerian goalie has struggled to pin down a regular shirt in the Championship side in recent weeks with Italian goalie Emiliano Martinez starting Wolves' last five games.
Ikeme who had a successful debut with Nigeria against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania recently and is now the country's number one choice following Vincent Enyeama's retirement from international football, is considering seeking a move elsewhere in January to cement his place in the squad.
Jackett however says he does not want to lose Ikeme and want him to remain on his toes, claiming he could yet come back into the team should he impress in training.
"Carl is a very good goalkeeper but at the moment we are looking to build and add if we can. We are not looking to decrease the club," Jackett told the Express and Star.
"We want to make the club successful. Does he have to wait for his opportunity ?
"Yes – and do well enough in training to keep the pressure on the other player, that is what football is all about."
