Following Saturday’s FIFA World Cup draws, former Nigeria international, Mutiu Adepoju, has warned the Super Eagles not to get complacent when they meet either Swaziland or Djibouti.
Swaziland and Djibouti will square off against each other in the first round, with the winner to face the Eagles for a place in the group phase of the Russia 2018 qualifiers.
Speaking with completesportsnigeria.com, Adepoju stated that the team should focus on their preparation and be ready to take on which ever team emerges.
“It looks like an easy draw on paper, but no country is easy now,” he said. “We just need to focus on our own preparation and get ready for whoever we get to play.
“Let’s wait until both legs of the qualifiers have been played before we will know if it is indeed easy or not.”
He however expressed confidence in the ability of the new coaching crew to get the team set for the qualifier.
“The technical crew led by Sunday Oliseh know what they are supposed to do, they know the players to invite and how to prepare the team against either of this teams,” Adepoju told completesportsnigeria.com.
