By Adeboye Amosu:
Former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, has called on Nigerian fans to keep supporting the team despite their failure to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Eagles fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Pharaohs of Egypt in their qualifying fixture in Alexandria on Tuesday.
The narrow defeat put paid to their aspirations of making it to Gabon 2016.
And Yobo who captained the Eagles to win the AFCON title three years ago in South Africa has backed the side to emerge stronger from the disappointment.
“Disappointed that Nigeria failed to qualify for the Africa Nations Cup,” the former Everton defender wrote on his Twitter handle.
“Keep supporting the team. But we must do better.”
Nigeria also failed to qualify for the last edition of the AFCON which was hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
