Kenedy Nunes do Nascimento has been ruled out of Brazil U-20’s World Cup campaign after he was diagnosed with an inflamed appendix, according to Sambafoot.
The Brazil coach, Rogério Micale, also had to replace the Fluminense player, summoning Corinthians player Malcom, in his place. The 19-year-old underwent a surgical procedure on Monday and will be in Australia for 10 days to recover from surgery under the care of the medical department of the U-20s.
The highly rated teen star has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Barcelona.
Brazil are currently in Australia for the final phase of their preparation for the competition. The team will have 10 days of activities on Australian soil.
Brazil’s first match in the competition is against Nigeria on 1 June.
