2015 AFCON Qualifiers: What Do You Make Of Moses, Mba, Ideye Exclusion?

2015 AFCON Qualifiers: What Do You Make Of Moses, Mba, Ideye Exclusion?

The Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday, 19 August 2014 released the list of 23 players for invitation ahead of the double 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying games against Congo DR and South Africa in September.

The squad comprise mainly of players who were part of Nigeria’s 2013 African Cup of Nations triumph and the 2014 FIFA Worold Cup this summer.

However some players were conspiciously missing from the list named by the Glass House in the absence of a substantive coach for the Super Eagles.

The trio of Victor Moses, who has been signed on a season-long loan by Stoke City, AS Bastia of France’s Sunday Mba and new West Bromwich Albion record signing, Brown Aide Ideye and teammate Victor Anichebe were some of the players who missed out.

However the trio of Chinedu Obasi,Nosa Igiebor and Sone Aluko are making their return to the Nigerian national team.

The big surprise was the omission of Moses from this list. Do you think his absence has to do with his new Stoke City deal or because of his lack of match fitness?

Mba was surprisingly left out of Nigeria’s World Cup party. Now he is also missing from the latest Eagles team. Is this the begining of the end of his Super Eagles career?

And despite the fact that Stephen Keshi’s contract extension has not yet been confirmed , the new list has no Villarreal of Spain in-form striker Ikechukwu Uche. Are the Eagles coaches and the NFF doing the country and national team a deservice by not recalling Ike Uche?

To me, the AFCON 2015 qualifier list release is okay, but in the aspect of missing some players, I think keshi must have some reasons of doing dat. still Moses, Mba and Ike supposed to be inclusive because nobody can judge with the World cup Game as it happened.NFF should do it needful so dat Nigeria will not loss dia Key players.

I’m happy nobody has mentioned Ihenacho yet, we have so many players that I think he should wait till after the AFCON .

  • NFF is a disgrace to Nigeria football,so NFF is now the coach of super eagles, show of shame in that glass house,God bless NIGERIA

  • To me i would say this list is a good one but the omission of moses and odemwingie make me sad

  • Uche this, Uche that. We should move on.

  • kabiru mohammed i 4 years ago

i believe ike uche is still much relevant in the new look super eagles.

  • D is question,y are we bringing in politics and selfminged,in every thing in this country?,what did ike uche do that prevent him 4rm coming 4 world cup last month, now brown ideye, victor moses, sunday mba and so on.NFF and technical crew/coach should know that Nigerian football welfare is our concern and our happiness.moreover they be very careful in chosing and selecting players to avoid selection that knockout us last world cup at round 16.

  • DANIEL 4 years ago

let us move forward moses was not fit for d world cup and let us forget about mbasunday for now , Aluko is a very good player he was a regular for his team last season but keshi did not invite him for eagles ideye should face his team in england and work hard the new eagles they invite are very good so nobody should question d nff for this list thankyou.

common guy other players deserve a look-in too, beside allowing players on the move to settle down in there new clubs. uche is in contetion to enter euroleague could be the reason thou

  • zubimania 4 years ago

I can’t justify Mba and Uche’s exclusion but for Moses and Ideye, I think it is more to do with letting them settle down in their new clubs and secure their places than any other thing else. Just my opinion though.

  • I think d list is a bit balance and going by fact that the selection of players was done by nff.Like the fact that victor Moses was omitted in the list as to give him time to settle down at his new club. Ideye has to show the technical crew that he has regain back his form. Ik uche has not show any atom of williness of donning the green and white colour of nija after he had problem with the technical crew of the team, the same to victor anichiebe he hasn’t show any sign that he is willing to wear the super eagles jesy and finally u don’t expect nff to invite a player who is playing in division 3 in France tothe super eagles camp that’s the story of Sunday mba.

  • just like others have commented the exclusion of Ideye and Moses can be condoned for settling in their new clubs, but for Ike Uche’s exclusion it still baffles me because I know he is patriotic that he won’t reject the invitation because he’s if not the most inform Nigeria striker

  • The question is who is raising the list, the coach of the NFF?

  • francis udom 4 years ago

The list that is realeased by the nff is satisfactive to me, the fact that nigeria is blessed with scores of talanted lads has given the glasshouse the privillage to give chance to the untested ones to know thier packages for thier motherland thats the case of sone aluko and obasi, amean its been long we had their service so giving them the opportunity now in the qualifiers will help us to know the ones fit for the cup kickoff and probably will make selection easier for keshi on his resumption to any assignment…

  • Adejare david 4 years ago

To me i think the Nff are not being fair by not picking the key players that we need. Most especially the in- form IK UCHE. But all the same i think they no best for every action they take and wish them the best of luck.

Keshi should try and call ikechukwu uche let him forget that gamble he gamble at World Cup is like he using Nigerian Team to make money because i cant see the reason why he should not call ikechukw uche and Victor Moses, and i know why he leave Sunday Mba it is because the boy refused him not to be his Manager for his Contract therefore he want to punish the boy

    • chuks 4 years ago

Please stop this your speculation. Who told you Keshi wants to be Sunday Mba’s manager? Who told you Ike Uche is the best player among those who participated in the world cup?

Now that NFF released the list of players for the upcoming matches between the Super Eagles and duo of Congo and South Africa without naming the national team coach, it’s the usual thing in the glass house to invite the coach to defend his lists and now I believe the NFF should also be called upon to defend the criteria for their selection? About the list, I believe every Nigerian players can’t be invited at the same time. We have some tested players and other should also be allowed to show the stuff they are made of, Victor Moses needs time to adapt and settle down in his new club, playing a regular games before extending to him the national invitation. Brown Ideye also needs to concentrate at his new club before playing for the nation, mind you NFF usually call on the team head coach to defend the inclusion of any players who failed to play a regular week-in, week-out games in his club.
As regards the Ike Uche’s case, remember there is possibility of NFF retaining Stephen Keshi as the Head coach if the Big Boss eventually agree to the terms in his contract re-newer. Inclusion of Uche in that team won’t go down well with Keshi. Remember Uche himself said it that he won’t play for Nigeria as long as keshi remains the Coach. The best in this case is for the NFF to persuade the coach and ask the player in question to apologize to both Keshi and his team mates and the gate is opened for him. Chinedu Obasi, Nosa Igiebor and Sone Aluko are quality players and let’s try them out and see maybe they can displace some other regular players in the squad. It’s a good plus for the team to have best 11 and also good bench, inviting other players will bring competitions and every players will be on his toes to fight for shirt.
God bless Super Eagles, God bless all the supporters, God bless our country Nigeria.

Moses should be allowed to concentrate and establish himself in his new club for now.

  • Kola,us 4 years ago

Most people are commenting on players not invited but are not looking at those invited, every time a list comes out we refuse to appreciate those people invited.
Only trouble makers are not happy about the list, they will always find fault and that single player not invited the biggest deal.
People should realize we’re playing Congo and not Argentina, our CHAN team should be called upon to play them. I believe some players should be given a brake why we look into other players before Feb 2015.
Moses, Ideye, Mba and Osaze should be given a break and the likes of Uche that is around 32 should be fazed out gradually for younger players.

  • I think players that should have been included, if they are fit are,Balogun and Babatunde. You can see no cover for Ambrose if he should get injured.Unless Omeruoe, then who takes his place in the center?Eguekwe or Odunlana?

@kola us you again on complete sport
end of my comment because that guy is a pure confusion
    any where he goes

    who is our coach?

  • chuks 4 years ago

Nigeria has abundant talent that should be explored. The list to me is ok. Those selected are capable of doing the job. Its an opportunity for the coach to look at the new players introduced. The qualifying round should be used to test some new players.

bros, this is impeachment now. Even the nff presido narrowly escaped it. Hahahaha!!! Okey disprove it. They impeached moses frm west, uche frm east, odenweige south, and almed musa north. We are consolidating our federal character and ever nascent nff democracy. Even those that were selected will soon be reviewed. Make una no vex.

thank you. those in the glass house knows better than me since it is their work. but my opinion is (1) the glass house should make haste in reinstating stephen keshi as the head coach, (2) they should try and invite ike uche because he has been in his top form eversince, and (3) they should be fast in their arrangement and program because the time is short.
