Mikel Obi was left out of Chelsea’s side that drew 1-1against current champions Leicester City in the final day of the English Premier League season at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Danny Drinkwater fired in a long range shot for a late equaliser to cancel out Cesc Fabregas’ 66th minute penalty.
Fabregas had sent Kasper Schmeichel the wrong way from 12 yards out to put the home side in front before the champions struck with eight minutes left to play.
The dethroned champions ended their miserable campaign ninth on the log.
At the Hawthorns, Jordon Ibe scored his first league goal of the season to cancel out Salomon Rondon’s tenth minute opener in West Brom’s 1-1 draw against 2016 Europa League finalists, Liverpool.
In the 23rd minute, England Under-21 international Ibe fired home a left footed strike after he cut inside the Baggies box before sending a low shot into the back of the net.
At Vicarage Road, Odion Ighalo fired blanks in Watford’s 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland. Ighalo who ended the season with 15 league goals, five short of the 20 goals he scored in the Championship last term, played the whole game.
Sebastian Proedl’s 48th minute equaliser cancelled out Jack Rodwell’s first half opener.
Troy Deeney earned the Hornets a share of the spoils after Jeremain Lens had given The Black Cats a 2-1 lead. The draw meant Quique Sanchez Flores’ side finished the season 13th, while Sunderland remarkably turned their season around to finish 17th.
At the Britannia Stadium, Nigerian duo of Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses both came on in the 61st and 82nd minutes of West Ham’s 2-1 loss to Stoke City.
Second half goals from Giannelli Imbula and Biram Diouf cancelled out Michail Antonio’ s 23rd minute opener for the Hammers who finished seventh on the log in the Barclays Premier League while Stoke City ended the campaign in 10th position.
