Veteran Nigeria table tennis star, Segun Toriola, has revealed how he was able to overcome Czech Republic’s Dmitrij Prokopcov in the first round of the men’s singles of the table tennis event here at the on-going Rio 2016 Olympics.
Toriola, 41, beat Prokopcov four sets to two to advance into round two where he will meet Japan’s Niwa Koki on Sunday.
Toriola, who is participating in his seventh Olympics, stated that despite his poor record against Prokopcov, he was confident of emerging victorious.

“I’ve played him (Prokopcov) in the French League three times and I’ve lost every time,” Toriola said.
“I felt confident before the match, I played without any fear.
“My first attack was strong and he made mistakes, the main problem for me was that I made mistakes when playing short.”
