1 Nigeria First Met Honduras At Sydney 2000 Olympics
The first time Nigeria and Honduras ever met was in the group stage of the football event at Sydney 2000 Olympics.
It was a Group A match and other teams in the group were Italy and hosts Australia.
David Suazo gave Honduras the lead in the 36th minute before Bright Igbinadolor equalised for Nigeria five minutes into the second half.
Julio Cesar de Leon made it 2-1 on 60 minutes and Suazo looked to have wrapped the game up for Honduras when he scored on 76 minutes.
But two goals in the 78th and 91st minutes by Victor Agali and Yakubu Aiyegbeni respectively made sure the game ended 3-3.
2 Nigeria Beat Honduras In The 2016 Suwon Invitational Tournament
After losing 1-0 to South Korea and 6-2 to Denmark at the Suwon Invitational tournament, Nigeria faced Honduras in their last game.
Honduras scored first through Albert Elis in the 17th minute.
Nigeria rallied back and scored three second half goals through Azubuike Okechukwu, Godwin Saviour and Saturday Erimuya to win the game 3-1.
3 This Is Nigeria's 3rd Third-Place Match At A Global Competition
The first time Nigeria played in the third-place match in a FIFA-organised competition was at the 1985 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Soviet Union (now Russia and several other countries).
After losing 2-0 to Brazil in the semi-final, the Flying Eagles beat hosts Soviet Union 3-1 on penalties in the bronze medal match after regulation time ended 0-0.
In the 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup in Saudi Arabia, the Super Eagles finished second behind Argentina in Group B and faced Mexico in the third-place match.
After playing 1-1 in 90 minutes, Mexico went on to win 5-4 in a penalty shootout to finish third.
4 Ghana Won Africa's First Men's Olympics Football Bronze
Africa's first-ever medal in men's football event at the Olympics was a bronze won by Ghana in Barcelona 1992.
Topping a group that had Australia, Mexico and Denmark, Ghana went on to beat Paraguay 4-2 in the quarter-finals before losing 2-0 to hosts Spain.
But in the third-place match against Australia, they secured a slim 1-0 win to claim the bronze medal.

The first time Nigeria played in the third-place match in a FIFA competition was in 1985 where they beat hosts Soviet Union 3-1 on penalties.
The second time was in the 1995 FIFA Confederation Cup in Suadi Arabia where they lost 5-4 to Mexico.
