Leon Balogun could miss the Super Eagles 2018 World Cup qualifier on October 9 after going off injured in Mainz’s 3-2 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
Balogun’s injury was confirmed on Mainz’s official Twitter handle.
The German-born Nigerian defender was replaced by Alexander Hack nine minutes into the Bundesliga match.
“An early substitution for Mainz as the injured Leon Balogun is replaced by Alexander Hack.”
Balogun was in action for the Eagles in their 1-0 win against Tanzania in their final 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
