Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has reacted to transfer speculation regarding Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Musa has been linked with a move away from the club but Shakespeare hinted at his news conference on Thursday that the Nigerian could face competition at the club next season if he stays.
“Ahmed has got to knuckle down and work hard. We have seen glimpses there but he has to be more consistent,” Shakespeare said.
“There are going to be some goings and comings – that is ultimately at every football club.”
The manager also spoke about the possibility of Algeria forward and current African Footballer of the Year Riyad Mahrez joining Musa to exit the club in the summer.
“As far as I am concerned and until told otherwise, Mahrez has got a long-term contract here and he is happy,” Shakespeare added.
Musa has played 20 Premier League games and scored just twice this season.
On the injury front, the Englishman said influential midfielder Danny Drinkwater is out of the remainder of the season.
“We need to give him time to recover from this. I can’t see him playing this season. It is weeks rather than months,” Shakespeare said.
Defender Robert Huth is a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League game against Manchester City as he has a foot injury and Wes Morgan is not fit to return to action.
