Nasarawa United Captain: NPFL Clubs Coping Well Without CHAN Eagles Stars

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Nasarawa United captain Emmanuel Makama has opined that the absence of certain players from their club’s games will not affect their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) prospects, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Makama and his Nasarawa United colleagues face Shooting Stars Sports Club in an NPFL clash on Sunday.

A day earlier, the Super Eagles team made up entirely of NPFL players face Benin Republic in the second leg of their African Nations Championship qualifier in Kano, having lost the first leg 1-0 last Sunday.

“I think clubs who had players in the CHAN Eagles coped well without their players,” Makama told Completesportsnigeria.com on Friday.

“I really do not see any problems with that although I agree that there should be a limited number of players a club should  provide for national duty at once.

“If you ask me, I will say a club can provide maximum of four players. That is not a big number really because clubs recruit massively. Akwa United have four players in the Eagles camp, MFM have two. (Akwa United defeated Niger Tornadoes 3-0 in their Match day 34 fixture albeit MFM were defeated 1-0 by Plateau United).

“We have one though, that is Thomas Zenke but even if there were three more players in addition to Zenke, we will cope.”

Nasarawa United are currently sixth in the NPFL table with 50 points while 3SC are 17th with 43 points.
