U-23 Eagles star, Junior Ajayi, says the team is ready for Wednesday’s Group B clash against Ghana in the football event of the 2015 All Africa Games.
The Samson Siasia-led side will kick off their campaign against the defending champions after their opening day opponents Egypt pulled out.
The game presents another opportunity for the two West African foes to renew their rivalry on the football pitch again having come across each other at this level four times in the past with Nigeria leading head to head.
Ajayi told completesportsnigeria.com that he and his colleagues are prepared to maintain their superiority over the Ghanaians.
“Playing against Ghana at any level is always difficult, but we are ready to beat them,” Ajayi, whose goals helped the U-23 Eagles qualify, told completesportsnigeria.com.
“We expect a tough game against them which is why we have prepared so hard ahead of the the game.
“It’s important to start the competition on a winning note and we are going to give our best to ensure we come out victorious against them.”
Ghana struggled in their opening game of the competition, holding an impressive looking Senegalese side to a 2-2 draw.
