Abia Warriors skipper Chinedu Efugh says his team's poor first half performance caused their 2-1 defeat to MFM FC on matchday 16 of the Nigeria Professional Football League at Agege on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Abia Warriors found themselves 2-0 down in the first half courtesy of goals from Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun.
Abia Warriors managed to pull a goal back with six minutes left through Sunday Adetunji, but it was too late as MFM held on to secure the win.
"It's part of the game, it's just for us to go back home and prepare for our next game," Efugh told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"In the first half, we gave MFM too much room to play which resulted in the two goals we conceded. But in the second half we came out, got a goal, but unfortunately, we still lost. That's football."
Efugh stated that Abia Warriors will do everything possible to win their next game at home against ABS.
"Against ABS, hopefully we are going to come out victorious. We will do everything possible to correct our mistakes in the game against MFM."
Efugh praised the standard of the league so far this season.
"So far, the league is moving on fine. I hope it continues like this when the second stanza kicks off."
