Adebayor Insists: Yes, My Mum Is a Witch!

–Brother reacts:You have been ‘brainwashed’by Islamic spiritual healers

Emmanuel Adebayor’s family have hit out after he claimed his mum put a juju curse on him.

The Spurs striker was accused of blaming sobbing mother Alice, 62, for his goal drought — and kicking her out of her African home so she has to earn £1 a day selling tomatoes in the street.

His lorry driver brother Kola, 42, said: “Every day my mother is crying. She told me, ‘Emmanuel has accused me of being a witch.’

Mother-of-seven Alice denies using black magic on the £170,000-a-week Togo ace. But Adebayor, 30, who has scored just twice this season after previously netting 14 times, has even gone on the radio back in Africa to slam her for “doing juju on me.”

He phoned in to condemn her after his older sister Maggie, 45, was interviewed on air in neighbouring Ghana — where she runs a grocery shop — about their widowed mother’s hell.

Maggie said: “Our mother is selling polythene bags, padlocks and other things on the Ghana-Togo border. Our mother has not seen him for more than a year. He rejects her calls.

“Our mother is not calling him for his money. She just wants to see him because she loves him very much.”

The footballer, who insists his mum left her house of her own accord, was so enraged by the interview he then gave his own.

In it he repeated his claim that his family was “plotting juju” against him.

Adebayor told Peace FM in comments just days ago that can still be heard on the station’s website:“Obviously I’m not a pastor, I am a footballer so I cannot point out a witch. I never sacked my mum from the house — she decided to leave the house.

“But how am I going to be in touch with my mum if my mum is the one telling everyone that my work will not go forward. They should stop talking, talking, they should stop doing juju on me — they should leave me alone.”

The astonished radio presenter in Ghana’s capital Accra gasped: “I don’t know if I heard you right — did you say the family is plotting juju against you?”

The star declared: “Yes, obviously, because I’m seeing (inaudible) every day.” He went on to claim relatives were using spiritual advisers — “juju people” — and were divvying up all his belongings as if he was about to die.

Adebayor fumed: “They have already shared all the things I worked for.
“They shared my houses, they shared my cars. They say, ‘If he dies this car is for you, this house is for you’. Can you imagine?”

Saturday night his trucker brother Kola, who lives in Bremen, Germany, said it was the footballer who was being “brainwashed” after consulting Islamic spiritual healers — who told him his dip in form was down to black magic. Kola said:

“They have convinced him his sister and mother put juju curses on him. My mother is very sad. Every day she is crying. I just talked to her on the phone and she was crying again.

“This is the woman who suffered for all of us and carried him in her stomach for nine months. This is the son she gave birth to and looked after all his life.

“And this is how he treats her. I am so angry with my brother.

Eight months ago he kicked his own mother out of her house. She is having to sell tomatoes to survive. She makes one or two euros a day — which is not enough to live on.

“I send her 400 euros a month to rent an apartment. Emmanuel will not even talk to her. He’s been brainwashed by these Muslim alfas — spiritual men — who prophesise when he scores goals and why he is not playing well. My family is Christian but it is not unusual to visit Muslim spiritual healers. He is seeing bad alfas and they are manipulating him. If you are really a man of God then you have to catch our mother and prove she is a witch.

“Otherwise you are just lying to Emmanuel and taking his money.

“They have convinced him that his sister and mother put juju curses on him — and now he has left our family in poverty.”

He went on: “Everyone is angry with Emmanuel for the way he has treated his family. If a child disrespects his mother, the mum has to put a blessing on her son or bad things will happen to him. It’s a big taboo in my country for a child to call his mother a witch.

“If the mother did put a curse on him it would follow him for the rest of his life. Something is wrong with this boy. No one in our family will speak to him
any more.

“I don’t know why he is playing badly. You will have to ask him that question. I only know he thinks his mother and sister are witches.”

I think it is wrong for Adebayor, to have called his mother a witch, even though if an islamic marabot (alfa’s) have told him, he shouldn’t have confront his mother, calling a witch, he should have seen that the stupid revelation have affected his football career, I think Mr Levy liked Adebayor, allowing to go and put his family in order, the chairman is a no nonsense man, I think between now and january he should get organize , play himself back to the first team. Am one of spurs fan in Nigeria, I have been a spurs fan, since they won the F A cup against Brighton with the likes of HODDLE, ADILES,GROOKS & ASHBORNE, I follow spurs reading shoot margzine.

  • Its very sad how fast one can depreciate morally. Well, what Adebayo did is not surprising to me. If truly he is a christian, he should have shown it by his life style, but his deed has not shown any sign of Christianity at all. Some say they are christians, but still live as unbelievers. He should quickly go to God in genuine repentance, ask for mercy from God & his relations that he offended, particularly his mother, otherwise he will regret his actions both now & thereafter. Only Jesus can make the difference in his life & family. Let him invite Jesus into his life & it shall be well with them all. Pls Adebayo read these scriptural verses in Proverbs: chapter 10 verse 1, 20:20, 23:22 and 29:1
