–Says Bafana gave Nigeria tough time
Former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju says the senior national still have a chance of making it to the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Morocco despite playing a goalless draw with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa yesterday in Cape Town, Complete Sports can report.
Speaking shortly after the match, Adepoju said Coach Stephen Keshi still have a lot to do to ensure that the players come out better in their next game.
“Well, it was a not a bad match compared to the one we saw against Congo, they came out against South Africa but they were not lucky to put up the kind of performance Nigerians expected but despite that, I think there is still hope that we are still going to make it”, says Adepoju.
“The South Africans know Nigeria very well and that is why they came all out in the match, they were sharp on the ball well determined but like I said earlier, we still need to work on our team.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will play away to Sudan next month in their next game before returning to host the Sudanese here in Nigeria and Adepoju believes that only victories in the two games can return Nigeria to contention in the AFCON.
“Keshi and the players should know now that they must win the two matches they are going to play in October otherwise, it will be too bad for a team that went into the qualifiers as the defending champions.
