Former Nigeria international and La Liga Ambassador, Mutiu Adepoju says the experience of training in Spain will serve Nigeria Professional Football League side, Rivers United well ahead of the new season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Pride of Rivers are currently in Spain on a 10-day training tour as part of their preparations for the next NPFL season.
They defeated Spanish side Villareal second team 1-0 in their first tuneup game on Wednesday.
"Coming to Spain is very important for Rivers United. The team came second in the Nigeria Professional Football League last season," Adepoju said in a video interview posted La Liga Twitter handle.
"They recently won the Super- Four competition which makes them the best side in the country. They will also play in the CAF Champions League next year.
"Coming to Spain is not only important for the players, but the administrators too. They will learn from the structures here and the way things are done.
"This arrangement is part of the agreement between La Liga and the Nigeria Professional Football League."
