AFRICAN CHAMPIONS! Super Falcons Overcome Cameroon, Win AWCON Title

By Adeboye Amosu:

Nigeria's Super Falcons won a record 10th African Women's Cup of Nations Cup title (eighth in the tournament format) following a hard-fought 1-0 win against hosts Cameroon on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Desire Oparanozie who scored the winner in the semi-final against South Africa netted the decisive goal six minutes from time.
Playing in front of a hugely intimidating crowd at the Ahmadu Ahidjo Stadium, Yaounde the Super Falcons weathered pressure from the hosts and carved out the first real chance of the game through Ngozi Okobi on 10 minutes.

The hosts had a fantastic chance to open scoring in the 24th minute but Alaba Jonathan pulled off a fantastic save.

Alaba also pulled off another fantastic save when she saved one on one with Ngono Mani.

Mani  had another  chance to put the home side ahead from a free kick six minutes into the second half but shot wide.

Cameroon had other chances to take the lead but were let down by their poor finishing.

They were however made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal when Oparanozie netted the winner in the 86th minute.
