Agali: Eagles Need Ike Uche

Agali: Eagles Need Ike Uche

–Ex-international urges Keshi to invite Villarreal star

Former Super Eagles striker Victor Okechukwu Agali has joined the calls for Villarreal CF of Spain striker, Ikechukwu Uche to be recalled to the senior national team fold.

He joins the list of former players that have called for a resolution of the issues between Uche and Coach Stephen Keshi.

The former Shalke 04 of Germany striker, who had a similar experience during his time in the Super Eagles, also shared his experience and admonished both player and coach not to look at themselves but the country.

“It happened to me as well during my playing days where you have players falling out with coaches.

“But it’s not about IK Uche, and it’s not about Keshi. It’s about Nigeria, the country’s image when it comes to football.

“I just want to plead with those involved, Uche and Keshi, it’s about our image, it’s about restoring the image of our country,” he told Brila FM.

The animosity between Keshi and Uche is widely reported, with the latest being the claim by Keshi that Uche had always wanted to be begged before playing for Nigeria, with the 30-year old striker refuting such claims, saying he’s always happy to play for his country.

Keshi drop your ego and invite the Ike Uche. Nigeria is bigger than you. What if Ike Uche was like Mario Balatolli who still plays for his country? Ike is not any inch near Balatolli in behaviour. Keshi if you were God, no man will live.

Mr. Agali thanks for you opinion. What you are saying is in line with most Nigerians. Inviting Ike Uche is common sense. What is getting in the way is ego and arrogance on the part of Keshi. Mr. Keshi has already made his point regarding discipline within the team. Ike Uche is mature and experienced enough to understand this just like Osaze did not cause any problems at the World Cup. Yes Uche did and said somethings that was wrong but it is time to put those things in the past and in the dustbin of history, so we can move forward positively.

When Keshi to the bold decision to drop Uche, the striker Emenike was on hot form, and there was great partnership with Ideye. Its now almost 1 year since Emenike scored for Nigeria, yet Keshi cannot find a solution to the lack of goals in the team. It is shocking and suprising that Keshi cannot see he is doing himself and Nigeria a disservice by excluding Uche.

Anyway at the end of the day Mr. Keshi is the coach so he can invite who he wants. But Nigerians will not accept any slip up or cheap excuses in October if the eagles fail to deliver.

Keshi should call ike uche back, because he did not have any thing to say, because he is cause of every thing going on now, that is all I have to say for now

  • Uche maybe a good player but he is not the messiah people have claimed he is. Personally i will kick against indiscipline any day any time especially if I remember lot of matches we have lost due to indiscipline players. E.g during Amodu, s era it was reported in every Nigerian media that is the mafian group in super eagles who select first eleven this resulted in our outster from Mali 2002 nations cup. Garba lawal has once made an open confession about how a coach instructed them at France98 world cup to play a certain patern only for them to get into the pitch and play against the coache’s instruction all these things are caused by indiscipline players in the super eagles. Finally uche should ask for forgiveness from the coach before he should be invited to the national teama afterall he is not bigger than Osazi who did it to Keshi.

@enyi.d young lad,ik uche has not done anythng wrong.snce ds problem started,he has been quiet abt it.it is Mr keshi dat hs been doing d talking.keshi has to show maturity in handling ds issue.in as much as indiscipline shld not b condoned but he is far frm ballotelli.even keshi in hs playing days was very undisciplined.every body can attest to it.dat confirms the saying dat he Wu kills wth d matchet does nt allow the same matchet to cross hs back.ik uche shld lead d attack against Sudan, either emenike or ideye shld play d support striker, then obasi chinedu on the rght, victor moses on d left.plz keshi try and see if U can convert Portland timbers marksman bright dike to a defensive midfielder.he is big and covers more space and I knw he can mark very well.onazi is good but he has lil body and doesn’t cover mch space.with Mikel in the offensive midfield and brght in d defensive midfield and sitting I front of the back four,I knw d sips eagles will play Better.its just dat our coaches are not adventurous and dry also lack d initiative and creativity.

I think you should rethink the point you made about Onazi. It seems you are the only individual who cannot see that Onazi is one of the most important outfield players in Nigeria today. Without Onazi the Nigerian Midfield is almost non-existent. Onazi’s work rate, tenacity and ability to breakup opposition moves is second to none in Nigeria and probably Africa.
