Nigeria defender Uche Agbo and his Spanish LaLiga club Granada have been relegated to the Spanish second division (LaLiga 1/2/3), Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Granada’s relegation was confirmed following their 2-1 away loss to Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Agbo was in action for Granada in the game and played 90 minutes.
Needing an outright win to keep alive their slim hope of avoiding the drop, Granada who only recently appointed Arsenal legend Tony Adams as their new manager, went a goal down courtesy of a 45th minute goal by former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela.
In the 65th minute, Granada were back on level terms thanks to Adrian Ramos’ equaliser.
Granada’s hope of surviving relegation was finally sealed following an 84th minute goal by Juanmi.
The defeat leaves Granada on 20 points, 10 points away from safety with three games remaining.
Granada’s relegation ends a six-season spell in the top flight. They play Real Madrid at home in their next match on Saturday, 6 May.
Granada once paraded Nigerian strikers Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success.
