Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo was on the winning side as his Belgian outfit, Standard Liege started their campaign in the new season on a winning note by edging KAA Gent 3-2 at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne , Luik, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
Agbo, a centre-back was on from start to the of the game.
Gent also paraded Nigerian duo, Anderson Esiti and Taiwo Awoniyi, while Samuel Kalu was an unused substitute in the encounter.
Esiti came in for Vadis Odjidja in the 45th minute and conceded the penalty that led to Standard Liege’s second goal. He was also booked for the rash tackle.
Awoniyi replaced Yuya Kubo in the 68th minute of the match.
Gent’s other Nigerian forward, Moses Simon missed out due to injury.
Moussa Djenpo, Paul M’Poku (penalty) and Renaud Emond were on target for Standard Liege, while Roman Yaremchuk and Stallone Limbombe got the goals for Gent.
