Nigerian midfielder Mikel Agu starred for 90 minutes for Vitoria de Setubal who secured a 2-1 win over CD Feirense in Friday night’s Portuguese top flight league game, and 25 year old is happy to go into the international break with his club moving into eighth spot in the league table, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Agu posted another solid performance for Lito Vidigal’s team at the Estadio do Bonfim as Frederic Mendy and Jhonder Cadiz scored in either half to cancel out the visitor’s equalizer on 33 minutes.

Agu nearly got on the scoresheet, but his powerful shot in the 60th minute went narrowly off-target.

“This is where we want to be at this stage of the season. We are still in the Cup and doing well in the League. Going into the international break with a victory is great and hopefully, when we return, we can keep things going as well. Now, it’s time to join up with the national team for the game against South Africa,” he said.

The combative midfielder isa expected to make a return to the Super Eagles following his superlative showings for his Portuguese club since making a deadline day move to the Green and Whites.

Completesportsnigeria.com had exclusively reported that Agu will be one of the early birds in the national camp and the 25-year-old has now confirmed he would be in Nigeria on Sunday.

He said: “I’ve confirmed my ticket and I will definitely be in camp by Sunday evening, God willing. Attention has shifted to helping the Super Eagles to get a good result against South Africa and I will do my best if given the chance to play.”

Setubal will return to league action after the international break with a trip to CD Maritimo Madeira on December 1.
