Ahmadu: Eagles Are Under Pressure

–NFF scribe says they must beat Iran in their first game

The Super Eagles will be under tremendous pressure to beat Iran in their opening game of the World Cup, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Musa Amadu has said.

Amadu said in a chat with Complete Sports in Abuja on Monday that the Super Eagles must win their match against Iran otherwise there will be trouble as their qualification chances will be hanging in the balance.

“We are set for the World Cup. The Eagles should not be judged by the outcome of the pre-World Cup friendly matches because the team is much better than what people think. I am confident that the Eagles would beat Iran.

“It is crucial and critical that we win our first game and that is why I am bothered by the results of the friendly matches. It is not the number of wins under your belt or losses that determine ones readiness for the World Cup.

“The NFF have done their part in preparing the Eagles for the World Cup and all things being equal qualifying for the second round should not be a problem. We are hopeful the Eagles will do well” he stated.

He said the players would get all that is due to them financially for them to perform at the World Cup adding that the NFF are working hard to ensure they don’t get distracted.
