Aigbogun Unruffled Over Enyimba’s Poor Showing At NPFL invitational, Eager For Better Season

By Adeboye Amosu in Kano: Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun is upbeat that his team will have a good outing in the Nigeria Professional Football League next season despite their failure to make an impact in the 2017 NPFL invitational tournament in Kano, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The People’s Elephant finished bottom of their group with one defeat and a draw from their two games in the competition.

The Aba side showed a lot of promise in their opening game against Plateau United, but were totally dominated in the second by the home-based Super Eagles which they lost 1-0.

Despite that, Aigbogun who is in his third stint at the club is adamant the club can improve on their third place finish in the NPFL last season.

“We are here in Kano to prepare for the new season. Our objective is to get the players in proper shape and also test the new ones too,” begins Aigbogun in a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com.‎

“That we didn’t win the competition here is not a big deal for us. In the first game against Plateau United we played with 10 players for the majority of the game and my boys still dominated and could still have won, but for the late penalty that we conceded.

“Yes, we lost the second game but my boys gave their best. We tried some new players too and if you ask me, I’m totally satisfied with what we have done here even though there is still room for improvement.

“Now, we will go home and continue with our preparation for the season and I’m sure we will do better than we did last season.”

  • Ive never had confidence in Paul Aigbogun. I keep wondering why we shoot ourselves in the foot all the time.
