Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, has expressed his gratitude to his former coach at Chelsea, Antonio Conte, after the Italian was sacked on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Blues dismissed Conte after two seasons in charge despite winning leading the side to win the English Premier League and the English FA Cup.
Aina played eight games under Conte in his first season before he was shipped out on loan to English Championship side, Hull City last season by the Italian.
In a post on Twitter, Aina wrote: “Grazie António,” which means ‘Thanks Antonio’ in English.
César Azpilicueta also wrote: “Thank you mister for the trophies we have won together and your confidence in the last 2 seasons. I wish you all the best in the future. #GrazieAntonio #CFC.”
Now back at Stamford Bridge for the forthcoming seaso, Aina who was left out of Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup is looking to play his way into the new manager’s plans.
Chelsea are yet to make a statement on Conte’s successor, but they have reportedly lined up former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri as replacement.
