Nigerian defender Ola Aina is targeting an extended run in the FA Cup competition after his goal secured a place for Hull City in the fourth round at the expense of Blackburn Rovers whom the Tigers beat 1-0 last Saturday.
The win was the Tigers’ second away from the KCOM Stadium in 14 months and Aina is delighted at the feat.
Hull City will face Nottingham Forest in the fourth round of the competition following the draw on Monday.
“It was an exciting feeling (scoring his first goal),” Aina told Hull’s official website. “I’d always wondered when it was going to come and happily it came as the winning goal.
“I wouldn’t mind a cup run. Obviously the league is our main priority but to have a good cup run I don’t think you’d hear anyone complaining.
“There’s some magic in this competition as everyone knows and if we get on a decent run that would be just as good as anything this season.
“We know we haven’t made a great start to this season so to have a cup run would boost the fans and give them something to cheer about.
“I’m sure we’ll be ready for anyone in the next round. We have a good bunch of lads here who are confident and have belief in our ability as a group.”
