Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi is confident he can fill the void left behind by Gabonese forward Malick Evouna at Al Ahly, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ajayi who joined the Egyptian powerhouses on a four-year deal worth $2 million from Tunisian side CS Sfaxien struck twice in Al Ahly's 6-2 win over Egyptian third division side Shiko in a friendly game on Monday.
He adds that he hopes to please his club fans with more goals when he makes his expected debut in Wednesday's home clash against Wadi Degla.
"I'm gradually settling in well into the squad," the Nigeria U-23s star told Completesportsnigeria.com in a chat.
"And I believe I can do more than what is expected of me in attack."
Evouna bagged 12 league goals last season before joining Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda and Ajayi, who struck ten times and provided six assists for CS Sfaxien playing from the wings, is optimistic of hitting double figures before the end of the season.
"Its a huge task replacing the main man at the club last season but if I had doubts about my abilities I wouldn't be here," he added.
Al Ahly are second on the Egyptian log with six points after two games, level on the same points with leaders Smouha.
