Home-based Super Eagles defender Chima Akas insists Nigerians should expect a different game against Benin Republic in the second leg of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The home-based Eagles lost 1-0 to Benin Republic last Sunday in the first leg in Cotonou.
The only goal of the game was scored by Seibou Mama who converted an 89th minute penalty following a foul on a Beninoise player inside the box by Afeez Aremu.
Looking ahead to the reverse fixture this weekend, Enyimba defender Akas who featured for 90 minutes in the first leg, said the home-based Eagles have put the first leg disappointment behind them and will surely qualify for the 2018 CHAN in Kenya.
“We are not bothered by the first leg defeat,” Akas told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Come Sunday, Nigerians will see a different performance from us.
And I am confident we will qualify for next year’s CHAN.”
The players and coaching crew arrived back in Nigeria on Monday from Cotonou and are already in Kano preparing for the second leg.
The home-based Eagles must beat Benin Republic by two clear goals to qualify for next year’s CHAN.
