Akpan Regrets South Africa Miss

Injured Super Eagles midfielder Hope Akpan has expressed sadness that he will not feature in Wednesday’s 2015 AFCON qualifying game against South Africa in Uyo, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.

Akpan who earned his second cap for the Eagles in their 2-0 away win against Congo on Saturday, injured his shoulder in an aerial challenge, and had to be replaced by Hull City’s Sone Aluko.

The Reading of England player also showers praises on the Governor of Akwa Ibom state Godswill Akpabio following the construction of the Akwa Ibom International Stadium.

He writes on his twitter page: “Very sad not to be playing tomorrow(Wednesday) at the wonderful new stadium in Uyo Akwa Ibom state, in front of my own people!”

“The stadium complex and Le Meridian Hotel which hosted the @NGSuperEagles in uyo, are a compliment to the governor and the people of Akwa Ibom.”
