Ex-international advises Eagles handler
Former Super Eagles striker Jonathan Akpoborie says only the best can help Nigeria to excel at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil while calling on all Nigerian players home and abroad to ensure they give their best at their various clubs.
The ex-international who reacted to the inactivity of some of the players Coach Stephen Keshi is banking on for the FIFA mundial said playing regularly will go a long way in helping the players to be at their best for the biggest football tournament.
“For God sake, we all know that World Cup is all about the best, all the teams that qualified for the tournament are there on merit and it is demanded of every country to come with her best legs but when you look at our situation, you will be surprised that not all the notable players are given enough playing time in their various clubs”, begins the former Germany based.
“We need these players and the only way we can get the best of them is for them to play regularly otherwise our performance may be affected at the World Cup.
France based Elderson Echiejile, Victor Moses and Mikel Obi are some of the notable Super Eagles players who have not been given enough playing time in their various clubs, funny enough, they are key members of the team.
Nigeria will play Bosnia Herzegovina, Iran and Argentina in the first round of the FFIFA World Cup in Brazil next summer.
