Akwa United Coach, Maikaba: We Want The Three Away Points Vs Tornadoes In Lokoja

By Adeboye Amosu:  Akwa United  Technical Adviser, Abdu Maikaba is confident his team can pick an away win against Niger Tornadoes in Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League matchday-4 away  fixture against Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja, Completesportsnigeria.com ( CSN) reports.
The Promise Keepers lost their last away fixture 1-0 to G- Round FC last Wednesday but are hoping for a better result this time around.
Maikaba explains that the level of competitiveness in the NPFL, which has seen teams win matches away from home, is a good motivation and encouragement for teams that if they play well, they can win on the road.
“The beginning of the league is very interesting, going by the way teams are picking results away from home,”Maikaba told the Akwa United’s official website.
“We are not in Lokoja for jamboree, but for serious business. We know that Tornadoes is a very good side, but we have a point to prove. We hope to play good football and entertain the fans while also focusing on the three points at stake.
“We have the confidence that we can win matches against any team in this league irrespective of the venue. This is one of such matches and we are ready.”
Both teams met three times last season, Niger Tornadoes won 1-0 in Lokoja and Akwa United recorded 3-0 win in Uyo before beating Tornadoes 3-2 on penalties in Lagos to lift the Aiteo Cup.  The match on Wednesday will be their first meeting since the Cup final in Lagos in October.
