Flying Eagles goalkeeper Dele Alampasu has declared his readiness for the National U-23 Eagles ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games qualifier against Congo, Complete Sports can report.
Alampasu who was part of the Flying Eagles team to the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand where Nigeria failed to go beyond the second round, is one of the five players Coach Samson Siasia is hoping to draft into his team ahead of the Olympic Games qualifier.
“It will be a great opportunity for me to be part of the team, I am a Nigerian and I will always be ready to help my country anytime I am called upon. If Coach Samson Siasia has confidence in me, I will definitely honour him, he is a quality coach who wants the best from his players”, says the former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper.
“The U-20 World Cup has come and gone for us but it was painful that we could not beat Germany to go beyond the second round. It was an opportunity for every one of us to learn and I am sure that the experience will help us in future.
Meanwhile, Coach Samson Siasia is yet to make up his mind on the players he intends to invite from the Flying Eagles as the match against Congo is scheduled to hold on July 18 in Abuja.
Siasia also believes that the players that will be added from the Flying Eagles will contribute immensely to the team’s progress.
