Albrigton: Fantastic Ndidi Gutted By Red Card, Has Leicester Teammates’ Support

Albrigton: Fantastic Ndidi Gutted By Red Card, Has Leicester Teammates’ SupportWilfred Ndidi receives a red card on his birthday.

By Johnny Edward:
Leicester City winger Marc Albrigton believes Wilfred Ndidi will learn from the red card he received last Saturday against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.

Ndidi was sent off by referee Martin Atkinson on his 21st birthday, his first ever dismissal since he moved to Europe in 2015.

“I don’t think we can complain too much,” Albrigton told Leicester Mercury.

“I personally haven’t watched them back but Wilf (Ndidi) said he did go down too late and then Simmo (Danny Simpson) said there was a push for the disallowed goal.

“There’s nothing we can do about it now. We’ve just got to move on. Wilf is gutted to be honest. He’s sat in there and he’s devastated because at that moment we were on top.

“We’d come out strong in the second half and if we had nicked one we would have gone on to get at least a point because we put them under pressure.

“That set us back a little bit and we never quite got going after that.”

Albrighton added that the Leicester City players rallied around Ndidi who will miss the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on Tuesday, rather than criticising him.

“You don’t go into him and bawl and shout at him, definitely not,” he said.

“He’s still young and people forget that because he’d produced some great performances.

“He’s learning the game and he’s been fantastic for us, especially in recent weeks.

“The destructive side of his game is fantastic and he’d putting together some fantastic technical performances as well, which is very good for him.

“He’s a great lad and he’ll be gutted more than anyone having done that.

“We could see that with his reaction in the dressing room but none of the lads will get on his back and we will encourage him to go again.”
