By Johnny Edward: Super Eagles defender, Jamiu Alimi, believes there's still a lot of goals to come from him after scoring his first goal of the season for Kano Pillars who spanked Lobi Stars 3-0 last Sunday.
It was his first ever career goal as a professional player and the 24-year-old defender has set a minimum target of three goals before the end of the season.
In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, the former Tavriya defender said he hopes to support the team more by scoring crucial goals in the league run in.
“Even though I am not a striker, I have to try my best to support my team with goals. We have heard of so many scoring defenders and I want to be one of them.
“My target now is to get up to three more goals because we are a team and anybody can score goals as long as we get the needed victory in our games.”
"Honestly, it feels great to score for such a great club on my 23rd league games this season. Amazing feelings for me. I'm so excited."
"Kano Pillars is the greatest club in the league. They have got the best football fans. We'll continue to work and make you guys happy."
Alimi scored the third goal in the 74th minute after Adamu Mohammed and Rabiu Ali had given Pillars the lead as early as the first minute and 31st minute of the game.
The result pushed Kano Pillars to the fourth position in the Nigeria Professional Football League table with 39 points in 25 matches while Lobi dropped to the eighth position.
