Nigerian striker Abubakar Aliyu was on target for his Norwegian second-tier club IK Start who beat Mjoendalen 2-1 at the Soer Arena on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Aliyu shot his side into the lead in the 14th minute before Niels Vorthoren doubled the advantage. It was Aliyu's third goal of the campaign. IK Start held on for a win despite a late goal from Amahl Pellegrino in the 77th minute for Mjoendalen.
Sone Aluko started for Fulham in the first matchday of the Sky Bet Championship season, playing for 90 minutes as his side played out a 1-1 draw at home to Norwich City. It was his 51st appearance for the club since joining last season.
Hope Akpan made his competitive debut for Burton Albion coming on as a 64th minute substitute in their 1-0 loss to Cardiff City. The four-cap Nigerian international replaced Marvin Sordell in the 64th minute of the encounter.
